Author

As soon as Kat picked up a pen, she knew she wanted to be an author. Since then, she has written countless stories, poems and songs. She has won the Words in Winter Trentham prize for her short story, Novel Chemistry, received commendations for two of her poems, and been shortlisted twice for the Ada Cambridge Poetry Prize.

Kat is currently seeking a publisher for her debut novel, 22 Things, a coming of age memoir, a children’s chapter book and several picture books.

Confused about her relationship and career choice post-university in 2004, Katrina impulsively applies to teach in Japan. Expecting a wholesome adventure, she gets more than she bargained for living on a shoestring, handling a long distance relationship and dealing with a toxic roommate who makes her life hell. Katrina wanted to escape her life in Australia but now she’s wondering if she needs to escape Japan.

22 Things is a tale of taking a leap, braving the tough stuff, working out who you are, and finding friendship in the most unlikely places.
