About Kat

Hi there! I am writer, blogger and mum of three from the picturesque Macedon Ranges in Victoria, Australia. I am a self confessed word (and now Wordle) nerd and have been intrigued by language from the time I could first write a sentence. My wardrobe is agog with notebooks I’ve filled with poems, short stories, novel plans, songs and comic strips from all stages of my life. I also have a library of books because I love collecting and keeping the novels I read. Some people splurge on shoes, I splurge on books.

I am currently completing the final draft of my debut novel, 22 Things, a memoir of my time living in Japan with other English conversation teachers. This has certainly been a labour of love and could probably be referred to as my fourth child. I am also currently working on a chapter book for tweens and several picture books.

When I am not planning and undertaking my creative writing projects, I am teaching creative writing to young writers, working as a copywriter in my business, Macedon Ranges Writers, and sharing ideas of family fun in my local area on my blog, Macedon Ranges Mumma.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Melbourne with majors in Creative Writing, Japanese, a Diploma of German, as well as a Graduate Diploma of Education. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, watching reruns of BBC historical dramas, playing the guitar and reading popular fiction novels.
